Draft Day Rebound

Grizzlies selected the original guy I already blogged about for 12th pick so I don't need to go over Xavier Henry. Of course I liked that pick. Let's talk about our 28th pick now. They really knocked it out here. Our highest need was a backup point guard and we reached a little for a guy that was destined for 2nd round.

Greivis Vasquez is from Venezuela. Every year the Miss Universe winner is from that country. Here is one talking about stuff:

Vasquez I've watched beat Georgia Tech multiple times over the last years. Maryland was a favorite over Duke most of this year and yet Duke rallied to become the NCAA champs. So this guy is something special. He's seems to have the intangibles that our team needs.

As a rookie he comes into the league practically as a veteran. He could be the only guy on our team with a college degree. This is great. There are players you love to hate (Kobe Bryant!) but when they come on your team it's fantastico! Vasquez I hated in college because he torched my team so many times. We'll be looking forward to see what he can do at this next stage for us.

Bench warriors

Every single winning team wants spark plugs like these Boston dudes coming off the bench.

  • Shrek and Donkey

  • When posed the question of what happened on what may be, thus far, Davis' defining moment of the 2010 NBA Playoffs, he was surprised to learn that Robinson jumped on his back in celebration.

"He didn't even notice. We're like Shrek and Donkey -- best friends," Robinson said, setting off bursting laughter among the press. "They can't separate us."

Glen Davis pummeled the Lakers bigs last night. He put on a heroic display. Never mind that self-inflicted boxing injury that kept him out most of the season. He's come through big in the playoffs, just like last year with KG out of course.

Glen Davis was a free agent last summer and everyone joked that he would get overpaid because of that amazing performance he had last year to keep the Celtics alive without "The Big Ticket". No one views Davis as a guy that will play large minutes for 82 games and dominate. He fills a niche only on a team like the Celtics perhaps. All I know is, that $6M contract which Boston gave him for two years is worth every penny. I lobbied for the Grizzlies to pick him up last summer. It certainly would have been better than us giving that same money to Allen Iverson. Of course, Big Baby probably would have demanded a lot more money than that to come to Memphis. It would have never worked.

Nate Robinson. Well - I just saw "8 block" come alive. Celtics in 6?

    NBA Finals Trivia

  • Hey smart asses at ABC/TNT/ESPN. Show the dancers – especially the Lakers girls – on your television broadcasts. Every year we sit through horrendous NFL half-time tomfoolery and lo, the quality burlesque of NBA gets completely passed over unless you are fortunate enough to be there live. so unfair!

  • Boston fan walking to NYC for all 3 Finals home games

  • Where's my $2600 dollars at!? – Doc Rivers stashed one Benjamin from each player and coach of the team in the ceiling of the Lakers visitor locker room as incentive to get them back there this month in the Finals. That's rad
